AdelynI was using a lot of nasal spray for my son, Nic’s respiratory issues. It did not solve his problem and he was still constantly falling sick. It was very heartbreaking for me whenever he fell ill because he hated to take medicine and we literally have to force him to ingest. The final straw for me was in June 2017. The 4-year old Nic was having a fever and my husband had to cane him, pin him down and I had to scold him to drink his medicine. I was tearing and scolding him at the same time. It was heartbreaking for me to do what I had to do. In Jan 2018, I attended a class organised by My Gifted Oilers team and I learnt how essential oils can strengthen our body’s defences and that wholistic wellness is important for children’s health issues. In my 1 year oiling journey, I experienced abundance in my family’s health, in friendship (where I made lots of friends who supports me in parenting tips) and in wealth (where I saved a lot in doctor’s consultation and medication). I enjoy attending classes to learn about other people’s personal testimonials and I get to connect with fellow mums like myself too!

ShinyuMy son started childcare when he was 18 months. On the 4th day of school, he was down with prolonged high fever with cough and flu symptoms and the PD diagnosed him with RSV virus infection. Subsequently, when he returned to school after a three-week break, he was diagnosed with HFMD. So in the one month of school, he was only present for 5 days! I was tired and frustrated from caring for him and got in touch with Charlene from My Gifted Oilers. I am a huge skeptic and I doubted that the oils would work. I decided to try it to see if they would work for my son’s condition. Through the team’s guidance, I quickly learned the basics to oiling my son and since then his attendance at school is getting better and better. His frequency of illnesses reduced significantly. PD visits have reduced from an average of 2 times per month to 0. I will now only visit PD for medication for emergency before we travel. Even my husband has learned how to apply the oils on my son because he was wowed by the results.

20663861_1442110329176303_6802752785907905035_nMy boy is very prone to nose bleed since he is 3 years plus. By nose bleed, I refer to the multiple incidents where his whole kindergarten uniform would be drenched in blood. Many times, his green uniform would be soaked red. It always look like a gruesome murder scene. You can imagine a bloody nose with a bloody shirt. Others may think that I’m an abusive mother!!!

I was told by the paediatrician that nose bleeding is pretty common in boys. Some eventually outgrew it, while others need to undergo surgery. His paediatrician does not recommend surgery for my boy due to his tender age. There was pretty nothing much I can do then. I was so helpless every time he experienced his nose bleeding.

I got connected with Charlene on Facebook and she taught me how to use the essential oils for my son’s situation. The change was slow but there were great improvements. From nosebleed once every week to once in two weeks and eventually once a month!

From there, I started to learn more about managing my family’s health naturally. With my hubby’s support, our family chose to adopt a wholistic wellness lifestyle. We started our oiling regime and switched to a chemical-free home. To date, I’m proud to share that our family has been drug-free since 2016!

Birthing Recipes

I have always intended for a vaginal birth without the use of medication or painkillers. As a first time mum to be, I do not have prior experience in the labour ward and most of what I have are imagination pieced together by friends’ sharing and online readings. I was pretty nervous when I was in the third trimester. So many unpredictable things can happen at labour! One thing I know with certain… my oils can support me in unlocking milestones, just as they had always done.

These are some useful recipes which you can use from your third trimester all the way to the birth of the baby 🙂

Perineum Massage Oil
*To soften to the area so as to reduce perineal trauma at birth
Apply on perineal and to be used for perineum massage

  • V6 Complex – 1 oz / 30ml
  • Geranium – 8 drops
  • Lavender – 5 drops
  • At week 37, add Fennel – 5 drops into the mixture

Brief your husband or birth partner what you want them to do while in the labour ward. When the contractions are strong and regular, you won’t be able to give clear instructions!

Labour Ward
Bring along: Ultrasonic Diffuser & Portable Speakers
Choose your favourite oil to diffuse! For me, I’ve chosen Joy Essential Oil.

Music helps to relax the body when it is in labour. Bring your own music device loaded with your preferred playlist and speakers.

Hub had been briefed to set up the diffuser and the music while I focus on the birth process.

Stages of labour and birth with the support of Essential Oils
To speed up or to promote contractions, Clary Sage is the oil that came highly recommended. But it did nothing for me! That’s what I love about the oils… We are not working with medicines, and everyone of us responds to the plants differently.

Something I haven’t tried but this recipe came in various literature:

Labour Blend
Premix this blend when packing for your hospital bag.
Apply this blend only after labour had started.

  • 5 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 4 drops Helichrysum
  • 2 drops Fennel
  • 2 drops Peppermint
  • 2 drops Clary Sage

I’ve used the following Pain Management blend and this is one I would strongly recommend for you to use to help you cope with the intensity of the contractions.

Pain Management Blend
Premix this blend in an empty glass bottle with pump.

  • 20 drops Frankincense
  • 20 drops Idaho Balsam Fir
  • 20 drops Copaiba
  • Top up the bottle with V6 complex
